Lazio have reportedly asked for Davide Frattesi on loan, but Inter still hope Nottingham Forest will buy the midfielder outright, so they can reinvest in Liverpool’s Curtis Jones.
The Nerazzurri risk losing out on so many transfer targets this summer because they must sell before they can bring in any new players, and that is proving to be extremely difficult.
Inter need buyer for Frattesi
Frattesi was the most likely to take the exit after struggling for regular playing time under both Simone Inzaghi and then Cristian Chivu.
However, nobody seems prepared to pay the €30m asking price for the Italy international.
Juventus had shown interest, so have Nottingham Forest, but now Lazio are seemingly making an approach too, with Sport Mediaset, Fabrizio Romano and others noting the contact.
The problem here is that Lazio can only afford a loan with an option to buy at the end of the season, which could turn into an obligation if certain conditions are met.
Frattesi turns 27 next month and does have a past at Lazio, starting in their youth academy before crossing over to Roma.
He might run into difficulty if he comes to the Aquile, because a couple of years ago he made it clear that he is a Roma supporter and was pushing to return to that side of the Stadio Olimpico.
As for Inter, if they do manage to sell Frattesi, then that money can be reinvested in Liverpool’s €40m rated midfielder Jones.
