Como manager Cesc Fabregas has delivered a major transfer update on Nico Paz amid growing interest from Inter. During his recent interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, Fabregas discussed the Argentine forward’s immediate future.
“I like him a lot,” Inter vice-president Javier Zanetti recently said. “For the way he plays and for the person he is. I’m fortunate to know his father, who was my roommate at the 1998 World Cup.
“Life brought us together again at Como after many years without seeing each other. I’m happy about Nico’s performances at Como. In these two years in Italian football, he has shown all his qualities.”
Nico Paz has enjoyed a meteoric rise since joining Como from Real Madrid in 2024. Despite his youth, the 21-year-old has quickly established himself as one of the standout performers in Serie A. Indeed, Paz made 35 league appearances in his first season at Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia, racking up six goals and nine assists.
More importantly, he has shown this season that he is not a ‘one-season wonder.’ Reluctant to rest on his laurels, Paz has netted 12 goals and added seven assists across 35 league outings, going toe-to-toe with the likes of Marcus Thuram and Donyell Malen.
Inter Desperate to Sign Nico Paz
Paz’s outstanding form has not gone unnoticed. Serie A champions Inter have identified him as one of their highest priorities heading into the summer transfer window. However, there’s a catch. Real Madrid can bring the youngster back to the Santiago Bernabeu for a mere €9 million.
Needless to say, Los Blancos have every intention of exercising their buy-back clause. Whether they’d then give Paz a chance to prove his worth in Spain’s capital or sell him on will be entirely up to Florentino Perez.
Aware of Paz’s situation, Fabregas now played down speculation linking the player with a move to Inter.
“From what I know, he will return to Real Madrid,” Fabregas said. “But one should never stop hoping to see him wearing the shirt of Inter.”
