ForzaInterNews Friday Transfer Tracker — Week 1
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterPin on Pinterestpost on threads

One week in, and this window has already punched Inter in the face three times.

Chelsea hijacked Marco Palestra at the eleventh hour. Denzel Dumfries is heading to Real Madrid, release clause triggered. Stefan de Vrij leaves as a free agent. And on Friday morning — the gut punch — Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Nico Paz is staying at Como on a permanent deal. The Argentine Inter had pivoted toward as Plan B is gone too.

In seven days, Inter have lost their top incoming target, two experienced defenders, and their emergency alternative. They head into the weekend needing a right wing-back, at least one centre-back, and clarity on multiple midfield exits.

The good news? Marotta has been here before.

📋 Quick Window Snapshot

✅ Confirmed Arrivals

  • Aleksandar Stankovic — buy-back clause activated
  • Ivan Provedel — medical imminent, effectively done

🚪 Confirmed Departures

  • Stefan de Vrij → Panathinaikos (free agent, 2-year deal)
  • Denzel Dumfries → Real Madrid (~€25m release clause)

🤝 Active Negotiations

  • Oumar Solet (Udinese) — centre-back, closing in
  • Dan Ndoye / Andrea Cambiaso — right wing-back, leading candidates
  • Curtis Jones (Liverpool) — midfielder, talks ongoing
  • Davide Frattesi — exit managed, Inter want €30m

📰 Biggest Story of the Week Chelsea’s hijacking of Marco Palestra — and the agent behaviour that made it possible.

Andrea Cambiaso IN ← Juventus 🟡 Interest €35-40m

Davide Frattesi OUT → TBC 🟡 Exit planned €25-30m
Nico Paz IN ← Como/RM 🔴 Dead N/A

Confirmed Departures

Stefan de Vrij → Panathinaikos

Free Agent | 2-Year Deal

This was telegraphed. De Vrij is 34, out of contract, and Inter offered one season at €2.2m. Panathinaikos offered two years at €3m. He took the security — you cannot blame him. Three Scudetti and a Champions League final at San Siro. A good servant, a clean exit.

What it does is add urgency to a defensive rebuild that was already complicated before this week started.

Denzel Dumfries → Real Madrid

Release Clause | ~€25m

Jude Bellingham has already referenced Dumfries as a new signing. That tells you everything. Real Madrid activated the clause — reportedly between €21m and €25m depending on the source — and Inter had no contractual recourse.

The fee stings. Dumfries was worth considerably more 18 months ago. But the clause was always there, and Madrid were always likely to use it.

Confirmed Arrivals

Ivan Provedel — From Lazio

Provedel arrives as Sommer’s backup on a three-year deal reportedly worth just over €1.5m per season. Experienced, reliable, budget-conscious. Not a signing to set pulses racing — it doesn’t need to be.

Aleksandar Stankovic — Buy-Back Activated

Inter recalled the 20-year-old Serbian midfielder from his loan. He turned down Tottenham and Brentford to come back. That is the profile of a player who believes in what Chivu is building.

Deals in Progress — Ranked by Likelihood

🟢 Oumar Solet (Udinese → Inter)

Status: Personal terms agreed at €2.4m/year through 2031. Inter have reached €23m; Udinese want €25-30m. One more meeting expected. Fee: ~€23-25m | Obstacle: A €2-7m gap that both sides want to close. Verdict: High. The player is pushing, the clubs are close.

🟢 Ivan Provedel (Lazio → Inter)

Status: Medical pending. Three-year contract agreed. Fee: Nominal | Obstacle: Paperwork only. Verdict: Done.

🟡 Dan Ndoye (Nottingham Forest → Inter)

Status: Emerging as the leading wing-back candidate post-Palestra. Italian reports (TuttoSport, Calciomercato.com) link Frattesi as a potential makeweight. Inter’s interest in Ndoye dates to his time at Bologna. Fee: €35-45m, or Frattesi + cash | Obstacle: Ndoye is not a natural wing-back and Forest have leverage on price. Verdict: Medium. The Frattesi link makes this more viable than a straight cash deal.

🟡 Andrea Cambiaso (Juventus → Inter)

Status: Tuttomercato report Inter’s focus has shifted to Cambiaso after losing Palestra. A Frattesi swap is being discussed, per Calciomercato.com. Cambiaso has also attracted Barcelona and Chelsea interest. Fee: €35-40m, or Frattesi-based deal | Obstacle: Selling to a direct title rival. Juve need sales but are in no rush. Verdict: Medium. Possible — the inter-club politics are the real complication.

🟡 Curtis Jones (Liverpool → Inter)

Status: Inter bid €20m; Liverpool want more. With Paz now confirmed at Como, Jones becomes more relevant to Inter’s midfield plans again. Fee: €25-30m | Obstacle: Liverpool’s valuation. Jones is under contract until 2027. Verdict: Medium. Still alive, but dependent on how the wing-back situation resolves first.

🟡 Davide Frattesi — Exit

Status: Nottingham Forest are the most concrete option at €20-25m, but Frattesi prefers a Serie A move — which points toward Juventus. Italian press link him as a makeweight for both Ndoye and Cambiaso deals. Fee: €25-30m | Obstacle: Inter’s €30m valuation vs. what the market is offering. Verdict: Medium-High. He is likely leaving this summer. When and for how much is the open question.

🔴 Nico Paz — Dead

Romano confirmed this morning: Como and Real Madrid have agreed a permanent €60m deal, with Madrid retaining a buy-back clause. Paz wanted to stay in Italy under Fàbregas. Inter were never close despite the noise. Move on.

🔴 Yann Bisseck — Likely Staying

Bayern have made initial contact, per Sport Bild. Inter insist he is going nowhere and contract extension talks are underway. Low likelihood of departure — for now.

Players Likely to Leave

Davide Frattesi is the clearest exit. He wants more minutes, Inter need the funds, and his profile makes him a useful lever in the wing-back chase. The destination — Forest or Juventus — will shape which replacement comes in.

Benjamin Pavard is not returning from his loan. Inter have confirmed it internally.

Kristjan Asllani has no pathway back. His Beşiktaş loan ended without a permanent deal and the club are not fighting to keep him.

Hakan Calhanoglu is staying in 2026-27 — confirmed. But his contract expires June 2027, and an extension has not been agreed. That conversation cannot be postponed forever.

🔥 Story of the Week: The Truth Behind the Palestra Collapse

This goes beyond a missed signing.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport and multiple Italian outlets, Inter and Atalanta had a verbal agreement in place at around €53m total. The player’s agent, Alessandro Lucci, had led both clubs to believe Palestra wanted Inter. As Marotta and Atalanta’s Luca Percassi were finalising details in Milan on Tuesday — with only minor points unresolved — Lucci was simultaneously fielding Chelsea’s approach and encouraging it.

Xabi Alonso made a personal phone call. Chelsea’s wage offer was more than double Inter’s ceiling: €5-6m per season net versus Inter’s €2.5m. Atalanta say they never received a written offer from Inter at any point. Even their sporting director Guido Angelozzi publicly admitted he had hoped the deal would go to Inter.

The agent played two clubs simultaneously. The result was predictable.

Our verdict: Inter were played — but they also left the door open. The wage gap with Premier League clubs is structural and real, but the fee negotiations were allowed to drag. The moment Chelsea showed serious interest, Inter should have had a written offer on the table. They didn’t.

How It All Connects

Everything this summer links back to the right wing-back position.

Dumfries is out. Palestra chose Chelsea. Paz is at Como. Inter are on Plan C — Ndoye or Cambiaso — and Frattesi is the likely lever for either deal.

The Frattesi-to-Juve route solves one problem and creates another: Inter would be directly strengthening a title rival. The Ndoye route is cleaner in that sense but requires Forest to co-operate on price. Both deals are conditional on Frattesi leaving first, which explains why his exit is now the most important transfer Inter need to complete.

Defensively, De Vrij’s departure means two centre-backs are needed minimum. Solet covers one slot. A second, cheaper option will likely come once sale proceeds land.

Calhanoglu stays through 2026-27 on his current contract — confirmed by Fabrizio Romano and his agent. The extension talks stalled over Oaktree’s over-30 wage policy. That conversation will become critical in January 2027, when he enters the final six months of his deal.

If Bayern return with a real offer for Bisseck in July, the entire defensive plan changes. Watch that one.

✍️ Weekly Verdict

The Palestra saga exposed a flaw in Inter’s transfer process, not their wage structure. Chelsea’s financial advantage was always expected, but according to Italian reports, Inter already had a verbal agreement with Atalanta and failed to move quickly enough with a formal written offer. That delay gave Chelsea and the player’s agent the opening they needed. Inter will recover with alternatives like Ndoye or Cambiaso, but this should be a lesson for Oaktree and the club: in today’s market, handshake agreements are no longer enough.

📊 Transfer Stock Market

📈 Rising

Oumar Solet — Personal terms done. Gap with Udinese narrowing. Most likely completed deal of the next seven days. Dan Ndoye — Shot up the list overnight. Forest want Frattesi; Inter want a wing-back. The pieces fit. Aleksandar Stankovic — Turned down Premier League money to return. That means something.

📉 Falling

Marco Palestra (to Inter) — Dead. The agent played two clubs. Find the replacement and move on. Nico Paz (to Inter) — Confirmed at Como this morning. Inter were never close. Curtis Jones — Still in play, but he is Plan B to a Plan B right now.

↔ Stable

Alessandro Bastoni — Real Madrid want him. Chivu says he stays. Agent Tinti agrees. Nothing has changed. Hakan Calhanoglu — Confirmed for 2026-27. Contract extension unresolved. Watch January 2027. Yann Bisseck — Bayern are lurking, Inter are holding firm. On simmer through July.

👀 What Happens Next

1. Ndoye or Cambiaso — Inter need to pick one. Both paths run through Frattesi. Formal contacts with Forest and Juventus are expected in the coming days. This is the most urgent decision of the summer.

2. Solet’s medical. One more meeting with Udinese and this gets done. It needs to happen before rival clubs enter the picture.

3. The Calhanoglu contract clock. Chivu wants him, the board are keeping him, but the over-30 wage problem has not disappeared. Inter need to start that conversation in earnest — not in January when options narrow.
