According to the latest predictions from the Opta Super Computer, Inter are looking at a potential quarter-final finish in the 2026-27 Champions League and Roma, Napoli and Como are expected to make it through the league phase. Take a look at the latest predictions below!
The 2026-27 Champions League campaign gets underway on Tuesday evening, including a blockbuster clash between Jose Mourinho and his 15-time winners Real Madrid and the reigning Serie A and Coppa Italia champions Inter.
Where could Inter, Roma, Como and Napoli finish in the 2026-27 Champions League?
According to the latest predictions from the Opta Analyst, which has simulated the 2026-27 Champions League 10,000 times, Inter are the strongest of the Italian sides in the competition and are currently projected to finish among the top eight or nine sides in the competition.
For reference, last season’s Opta Predictions had Liverpool as the overall favourites to win the 2025-26 Champions League. Actual victors Paris Saint-Germain were the third-favourites and runners-up Arsenal were correctly predicted as the second-most likely side to win it.
According to the Opta data, Inter have a 48.7% chance of ending up in the knock-out play-off round at the end of the league phase. However, they are given a much stronger chance of ending up in the round of 16 at a likelihood of 73.7%.
The Nerazzurri have been given a 39.5% chance of making it to the quarter-finals, the eighth highest percentage of any side in the competition. Their chances of qualifying for the semis have been rated at 18.9%, the final at 8.7% and a chance of 3.6% to go the distance and win the trophy.
As for the rest of the Italian sides competing in the Champions League this season, Roma have been ranked as the 13th-most likely to win the competition, followed by Como in 14th and Napoli in 21st.
All three are tipped to make it to the knock-out play-off rounds: Roma at a percentage of 55.8%, Como at 54.9% and Napoli at 50.3%.
Roma’s chances of making it to the round of 16 have been given a likelihood of 55.4%, 24.9% for the quarter-finals, 10.1% for the semi-finals, 3.7% to make the final and 1.3% to win the Champions League trophy.
Como’s chances of making it to the round of 16 have been given a likelihood of 47.8%, 20.8% for making the quarter-finals, 8.5% for the semi-finals, 3.3% for the final and 1.2% to win the entire competition.
Napoli’s chances of making it to the round of 16 have been given a likelihood of 33.2%, 11.6% for making it to the quarter-finals, 3.7% for making it to the semi-finals, 1.1% for making it to the final and 0.3% for winning the whole thing.
