Francesco Pio Esposito says that he expects his contract extension with Inter to go through with no major issues and says that it is the realisation of a childhood dream to play in the Nerazzurri first-team alongside his childhood friend Aleksandar Stankovic: ‘It’s amazing’.

Esposito is expected to be rewarded with a major increase in wages after an impressive breakthrough season in the Nerazzurri first team during the 2025-26 campaign. He is likely to sign a five-year contract and it has been suggested that his base salary could be trebled to somewhere around the €3.2m-per-year mark.
The 21-year-old is away with the Inter squad on their pre-season tour and, while speaking briefly to Sky Sport Italia, said that he has no concerns regarding the state of his contract renewal.
“I’m very calm, I’m happy here at Inter, it’s something that my agent will speak about with the club without any issues,” Esposito said.
“The objective is to never settle, to not stop and to always try to improve both in terms of statistics and as a footballer in general.”
Esposito also assured supporters that the team are preparing for the 2026-27 campaign in the best possible way.
“We’re working hard and preparing well. The tests against Milan and Juventus will be good to measure ourselves. It’s always great to play in a derby, even if it’s a friendly. We’ll go about it in a serious way.
“We’re a strong team and will play to win again this year.”
And what about Esposito’s ambitions with the Italy national team?
“I want to show what I have at club level first, and then I hope to have the opportunity to prove myself in the national team because I care a lot about the Azzurri shirt.”
Esposito also commented on the joy he has playing alongside Stankovic again this summer. Both players were born a few weeks apart and had played together in the Nerazzurri youth teams for almost a decade.
“We’ve been playing together since we were 11 years old. It’s been great to see him again. I heard from him during the summer and I asked if he was coming back. It’s an amazing thing that we dreamed of together as children.”
