Juventus executive Giorgio Chiellini says he’s happy with his role at the Allianz Stadium, so he’s not considering becoming Italy’s technical director.
Chiellini had emerged as a possible candidate for the Italy national team technical director role following Paolo Maldini and Leonardo’s resignation on Monday.
Chiellini: ‘I’m happy at Juventus’
Chiellini, however, confirmed his commitment to Juventus while arriving at the FIGC headquarters in Rome for a federal meeting on Tuesday morning.
“I just want to address some recent news from the media,” he said.
“I’m really happy with my role at Juventus, supporting Carnevali and the club now and in the future.”
Chiellini is currently serving as Juventus’ Chief Club Affairs Officer.
A former defender for Juventus and the Italy national team, Chiellini was the Azzurri’s captain under Roberto Mancini at the 2021 Euros, which the Azzurri won.
Maldini and Leonardo resigned on Monday after FIGC President Giovanni Malagò refused to confirm Andrea Pirlo’s appointment, officially due to the political controversy surrounding his role as a brand ambassador for a Russian betting company.
Malagò’s main candidate remains Roberto Mancini, whom the FIGC President is expected to propose as Italy’s new head coach during the federal meeting currently taking place.
