Cristian Chivu’s side won both the Serie A and Coppa Italia titles in 2025-26 but failed to give the best account of themselves in Europe after a knock-out play-off round elimination at the hands of Norwegian outfit Bodo/Glimt. The Nerazzurri had reached the final in two of the three preceding seasons, losing to Manchester City in 2022-23 and Paris Saint-Germain in 2024-25.
According to the latest predictions from Opta, Inter are ranked as the ninth-most likely side to win the Champions League in 2026-27. Premier League champions Arsenal are the pre-tournament favourites, followed by Bayern Munich, and then Manchester City, Barcelona and PSG to complete the top five.
Opta has also predicted that Liverpool, Real Madrid and Manchester United have a greater chance of winning the 2026-27 Champions League compared to the Nerazzurri.
