Napoli are waiting for Chelsea to give the all-clear for Benoit Badiashile on loan with option to buy, but meanwhile Costantino Favasuli arrives from Catanzaro for €7.5m.
The Partenopei were already short on defenders this season, a situation that only worsened with a new injury to Luca Marianucci.
A medial collateral ligament tear in his left knee means Marianucci is on the treatment table along with Alessandro Buongiorno and Sam Beukema, while Juan Jesus was released as a free agent.
Badiashile and Favasuli are Napoli priorities
According to Sportitalia and Sky Sport Italia, Napoli have asked Chelsea for permission to take Badiashile on loan for €3m with an option to buy at the end of the season.
They do not want to make this a guaranteed purchase due to the 25-year-old’s poor fitness record.
He cost €38m to buy from AS Monaco in January 2023, making 71 competitive appearances for the Premier League side, but only 16 of those were last term.
Chelsea are expected to get back to them within 24 hours with a response.
Meanwhile, Napoli have agreed a swoop for Italy international defender Favasuli from Catanzaro for a total cost of around €7.5m.
The 22-year-old plays as a right-back or left-back, and had also been linked with Juventus, Atalanta and Sporting CP.
A product of the Fiorentina youth academy, he moved to Catanzaro for free last summer, with the Viola receiving a large percentage of the future sale fee.
With Favasuli’s move to Napoli, Catanzaro can then secure Dorval from Bari.
Notably, Napoli and Bari are both owned by the De Laurentiis family.
