Considering a couple of injuries, just one Juventus player was called up by Italy during the recent break, Guglielmo Vicario. New CEO Giovanni Carnevali wants to go back to acquiring the best domestic talents, which used to be their bread and butter in the past.
According to Calciomercato, the higher-ups have earmarked up to ten players that would allow the clubs to return to its roots. Manuel Locatelli and Andrea Cambiaso are their only Azzurri staples.
Juventus are keeping tabs on Borussia Dortmund’s Lorenzo Reggiani, who’s being followed also by Inter, and Genoa’s Alessandro Marcandalli, who’s on the radar of some Premier League clubs. Per TuttoSport, the Old Lady tested the waters to bring in Giovanni Leoni on loan once he recovers from his serious knee injury, but didn’t find an opening.
The officials could also bid for Lorenzo Bernasconi, who hasn’t been a regular under Maurizio Sarri. Michael Kayode has completely bloomed at Brentford. He already spent time in Turin when he was very young. However, his price tag is steep now. The same goes for Fiorentina’s Cher Ndour, who would address their midfield problems. Instead, Luca Lipani would be one for the future.
The Bianconeri are ready to duel with Inter for Alessandro Romano and Samuele Inacio. Instead, Lorenzo Palmisani’s agent, Federico Pastorello, told Mediaset that they wanted the goalie to back up Vicario last summer but didn’t pull the trigger.
Our Take on Juventus
It’s the right strategy, and Inter supplanted them in that regard. On the other hand, it’s also a very pricey endeavor unless they sign talents before they fully flourish. Technically speaking, they need a left-back and one or two midfielders the most.
