Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones has fuelled transfer speculation by liking Inter’s Instagram post announcing John Stones’ transfer.
Stones has joined the Nerazzurri on a free transfer, and the Serie A giants confirmed his arrival on Thursday.
Their announcement on Instagram received over 350,000 likes, including one from Stones’ compatriot Jones.
Jones reacts to Stones’ Inter transfer
The Liverpool midfielder is a long-time Inter target, and the Nerazzurri are expected to continue talks to sign him over the next few weeks.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reported on Thursday that Jones is Cristian Chivu’s favourite target in central midfield, yet the defending Serie A champions are unwilling to match Liverpool’s €40m asking price, especially because the English midfielder has less than a year left in his contract at Anfield.
A product of the Liverpool academy, Jones has played 228 competitive matches with the Reds, scoring 22 goals and providing 25 assists.
Stones became Inter’s third summer signing after Ivan Provedel and Aleksandar Stanković, a product of the club academy who was brought back to San Siro from Club Brugge.
